My mission as a Holistic Health Coach is to foster the desire to make healthy lifestyle changes in order to improve the health and happiness of my clients.
I am a certified holistic health coach, specializing in weight management, heart health and stress reduction. I am passionate about helping individuals lead healthier, more productive lives. I also work with organizations to design and implement employee and workplace wellness programs for weight loss, stress reduction, improved health and healing. I provide customized programs for my individual clients in the core areas of: holistic health, heart disease prevention, weight management, holistic lifestyle change, and mind / body / spirit wellness. My coaching methods include visualization, yoga and guided meditation.
I was born in India where I spent my formative years practicing yoga and meditation with my father. It was in my native India that I learned to cook with traditional indian spices to prevent, treat -- and often heal -- many health conditions and diseases.
In 2005, I was suffering from severe asthma and allergies. None of the medications and treatments I tried helped. I decided to adopt a vegan diet that included anti-inflammatory foods as well as key Indian spices and herbs, and return to the meditation and yoga I learned as a youth. By utilizing the healthy lifestyle approaches I grew up with in India, I reduced the inflammation in my bronchial tubes and calmed my allergies. I healed myself!
Inspired by the success of this experience, I saw the potential of being able to use my integrative approach to heal others. I undertook intensive coursework and training that culminated in my certification as a holistic health coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition. This was the beginning of an exciting transition from a 15-year career as a medical transcriber to the launch of my Sherman Oaks, California-based coaching practice.
I am member of the American Association of Drugless Practitioners and the International Association of Health Coaches. I volunteer for the American Heart Association as a presenter on Heart Health. I also write regularly about nutrition.
